The Package
A Cape buffalo cow hunt is by no means any different to hunting a Cape buffalo Bull. On the contrary, with young calves in a herd both hunter and Professional Hunter need to be fully alert. This is a guided hunt for African dangerous game and according to law the Professional Hunter needs a dangerous game hunting license.
Commonly referred to as one of the bitches of the bushveld (we tend to call them bad ladies in public) they tend to act according to their nicknames. Known to have charged many a hunter unprovoked a hunter must have enough gun to stop a Cape buffalo charge, even if a cow is hunted. Cape buffalo cows are equally as dangerous as Cape buffalo bulls.
Prostalk Safaris offer affordable Cape buffalo cow hunt packages that will enhance the feeling of being in danger while we ensure your and our safety. The Cape buffalo cow hunting prices are what you see. We do not charge you more because we take you to the best place to hunt Cape buffalo. We merely charge you the cost of the Cape buffalo hunting safari as advertised. Once you are picked up at the airport we will take care of you till we drop you off again at the end of your African Cape buffalo hunting safari.
Minimum caliber for a Cape buffalo cow hunt – it is law to use a minimum 375 caliber when hunting Cape buffalo. The best caliber for Cape buffalo would be the largest caliber bigger than 375 you feel comfortable handling. We suggest any 400 caliber and bigger.

THE CAPE BUFFALO COW HUNT
This is a great deal for the hunter that wants an affordable way to hunt a Cape buffalo. The Cape buffalo cow will provide the same dangerous game hunting experience at significantly less money than hunting a bull would. Plus, many Cape buffalo cows have a wider spread than the bulls. The world record Cape Buffalo is actually a cow!
This hunt will be done on foot amongs bush. This is an exciting hunt as the cows are usually in herds and many are with calves so they are very wary.Sorting out an older female or a mature female without a calf in thick cover can be an exciting endeavor that you will not soon forget !.
Duration: 5 Days Hunting

Location: Kimberley
Hunting Ratio: Package Based on 8 Hunters Sharing 100 Animals
HUNT DESCRIPTION
High pace hunting in Africa!
This package hunt is based based on the traditional “Voorsit” (Sit-and-wait) method which entails being placed in a strategic place, awaiting the herd of springbuck to pass the shooting station. It is the African version of a European driven hunt. The primary species is the common Springbuck which occur in big herds but other species such as common Blesbuck and Gemsbuck are present in the area.
This specific offer is for 8 x hunters, shooting 12 Springbuck each. Driven hunts are used as a form management and therefore these hunts are not offering trophies. However as both male and female animals are hunted if there are hunters want to take away some of the better male animals harvested, they are welcome to do so.
Authentic experience!
Hunters are placed in strategic places in a “shooting chair” that can turn 360° or blinds etc. Herds being “moved” by either horse riders or people on motor bike. The area is known as the Karoo, which are semi-desert with hilly terrain, short stunted vegetation and with very low human population density. Point of arrival and departure, Kimberley airport.
Additional hunting days and species of game can be added. Basic, Farmhouse accommodation in a farmstead with running hot and cold water and flush toilet.

Father and Son Package
Package: £5250
Non Hunter/Observer: £1200
The father and son hunting package strives to offer dads wishing to enjoy an African hunting experience with their sons a cost-effective and enjoyable safari experience. The trophies in the package are to be shared by fathers and sons. Our hunting packages contain no hidden costs. The only safari-related costs which are not included are the dipping, packing and shipping of trophies and taxidermy work.
We meet our clients are at Heathrow Airport or OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. Accommodation is in first rate hunting camps and lodges where all modern amenities are available. Meals are of the highest standard and a large variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are available and included.
As your flight will arrive after 13:00, I suggest that we overnight at Kimberley this will give us time to check rifles etc. If you do not wish to bring your own rifles, you are welcome to hunt with one of the rifles of your professional hunter. The only cost involved is the replacement of ammunition (About £25 per day).
HUNTING AREAS, CAMPS & LODGES
The hunting areas in the bushveld range in size from 2000 - 47 000 hectares. Our primary focus is ensuring that you take the trophies which are included in your safari. We make a determination on which camp to use based on current conditions prior to the starting date of your safari. Our success rate is very close to 100%.
In all cases the camps and lodges we use are luxurious with en suite bathrooms, electricity, stylish decoration and sumptuous food - places where families acting as observers would also feel at home and comfortable.
A TYPICAL DAY
HUNTERS
A typical hunting day starts just before dawn at which time coffee and rusks are enjoyed. A selection of breakfast cereals, yogurt and juice is also available at this time. We then embark on the morning hunt. We normally hunt until about 11:00 at which time we return to the camp for brunch (a full meal which is a combination of breakfast and lunch). Some time is then devoted to relaxing in the camp. The hunt is resumed at about 14:30 and continues until sunset.
The method of hunting employed depends on the preference of the client and can consist of either walking and stalking, hunting from blinds or special vantage points from which we glass and ambush animals. The option of hunting from one of our well-equipped vehicles is also available should you have any medical problems, or are limited by not being able to walk long distances. Your Professional Hunter will discuss these options with you after arrival. All of these options are always available. It is not necessary to let us know which method you prefer prior to your arrival. We are happy to have Disabled Hunters, but we would ask that you lets know on booking..
OBSERVERS
Observers are welcome to accompany the hunters on safari or relax in the camp. Should the observers in your group be interested in visiting some of the highlights in the area while the hunters are in the field, this can be arranged at an additional charge. The additional cost is incurred as we need to send a dedicated guide to attend to the observers. On a typical safari, observers normally prefer to accompany hunters, which does not incur any additional charges so why not make it a Family holiday of a lifetime.

AFRICAN HUNTING SAFARIS
Going on an African hunting safari is one of life’s last greatest adventures. As Col. Craig Boddington so eloquently stated, “That first African safari is a truly life-changing event that can never be recaptured… although many of us spend much of our lives trying to regain that level of magic and excitement.” Whether it is a plains game safari or you start out hunting the big 5 or other dangerous game, the memories created by your safari will be unequaled by almost any other type of hunting.
South Africa and Namibia host the vast majority of the African continent’s plains game safaris. With the adoption of the private ownership concept of game management, game ranches have sprung up throughout these two countries. The number of plains game animals in these two countries has grown into the millions as a result of this game ranching growth. Most hunters start out hunting plains game and then gradually transition to dangerous game hunting as their African hunting skills grow. Dangerous game hunting in Africa is the pinnacle of many hunters’ accomplishments. Whether it is the taking of Africa’s “Big Five” or stalking a trophy hippo or croc, the thrill and satisfaction of successfully challenging Africa’s most dangerous animals cannot be equaled ! Dangerous game hunting will take a hunter to many exotic remote locations that are seldom seen by civilized man. Once a hunter has experienced the thrill of staring down a roaring lion or faced the charge of a wounded Cape buffalo, their life will be changed forever.

HUNTING METHODS
This is a typical African safari where you will utilize the truck to move around to locate animals and then get out and make a stalk on foot. You will be hunting both fenced and open areas. There are some great trophies on these concessions down to the selective management. Although you will see many animals during the hunt, challenging hunting is the order of the day.
The following trophies and species are included:
- One Cape Kudu
- One Gemsbok
- One Impala
- One Blesbuck,
- Two Warthog
- One Springbuck
- One Mountain Reedbuck
It is recommended that you obtain your own Travel and Medical Insurance as this is not covered by BASC, BDS etc.

THE AREA
This is a great deal for both the first timer to Africa or returning hunters. This Plains game Management hunting package in South Africa will take place on an number of exclusive concession. The nearest concession is only 45 minutes from Kimberley Airport, so no long drives from the airport or overnight stays in a guest house are necessary. The terrain varies from mountainous to flat African bushveld. The hunting area consists of mountains, rolling hills, open plains as well as thick bush.
The following animals are included:
- One Cape Kudu*, Black or Blue Wildebeest* or Gemsbuck (Please give first choice when booking)
- One Blesbuck
- Two Cape Springbuck*
- One Steenbuck*
- Two Warthog*
- One Mountain Reedbuck*
- One Days Bird Shooting
*All animals are NON-TROPHY
It is recommended that you obtain your own Travel and Medical Insurance as this is not covered by BASC, BDS etc.
